The following is found in the article "The Descendants of John Cooley and Selah Wright" published serially by the Quarterly Bulletin of The Cooley Family Association of America (October 1943 to January 1948). It was compiled by Mary D. Stoops. This transcription was provided by Dennis A Young. Oliver was the president of the Cooley Family Association of Americe from 1944-1948.

95. OLIVER EDWARD COOLEY, a Methodist minister, was born March 19, 1898; married November 17, 1921, in Lucerne, Missouri, to Lucy Ann Roberts, daughter of William A. Roberts and Margaret Young, of Kansas City, Mo.
Oliver Edward Cooley was reared on a farm near Powersville, Missouri, and lived for a short while during high school days at Little Rock, Arkansas. He attended Missouri Wesleyan College for one year, and Simpson College for three years. He served in the Navy during the First World War and is a member of the Des Moines Conference of the Methodist Church. He has had several genealogical "thrills" but the finest was in 1938, when he took his family and parents to Salem, Indiana. They went to the court house and located the farm where John and Selah Cooley had lived or at least owned, and went to the farm where David and Laurinda Cooley had lived. When they were told that the near-by stream was Blue River, they remembered that Thompson Cooley had often spoken of fishing in it when he was a boy. By means of bricks and old crockery they located the spot where David's cabin had stood, now in a field. They drank from the spring near by, remembering that the grandfather had spoken of it. They were told of
Grant Wright, so called on him. Their Cooleys had left Salem 90 years before and these were the first to return. They visited the old ghostly, desolate Brewer cemetery, where they found graves of several Cooleys.
