Jacksonville Hospital

John W. Cooley, 71 of 603 North Maple Street, in Effngham died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday at a Jacksonville hospital.

Mr. Cooley a reitred telegrapher Railroad, is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Rhea Loy, Mrs. Jewell Crippen, Miss Mildred Cooley of Effingham, Mrs. Daphne Freimuth and Mrs. Ruth Jacksi of Chicago; three sons, John Cooley, Jr., Walter Cooley and Charles Cooley of Effingham.

Surviving also are ten grandchildren. His wife the former, Mary Claar, of Dieterich, preceded him in death about 18 months ago.

Mr. Cooley lived in Dieterich several years ago where he learned telegraphing and agency work under Zach McCrillis the local agent of the Illinois Central.

Funeral services for Mr. Cooley were conducted at the Effingham Centenary Methodist Church Monday afternoon. Rev. Edward Hoffman, a former pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Oakridge cemetery. Johnson Funteral Home was in charge of services.
