Missouri Death Certificate #19134 states that Joseph Edward Cooley died in Moberly, Randolph County, Missouri 16 May 1929. His age was 79, 3, 9 and was born Feb 7, 1851 in Missouri. His Father was Joseph Cooley boirn in Brunswick, Missouri and Elizabeth Tock [sic] born in Macon County, Missouri. The informant was W T Cooley of Centralia, Missouri. Cause of death was "Oedema of Lungs" - contrubitory cause was "Cerebral hemorrhage". He died at home, He was buried Mt Salem Cemetery, 18 May 1929 by Albert Skinner of Macon, Missouri.

NOT YET ARRANGED

J. E. Cooley, 79. a life-long Missourian and for fifty-eight years a Randolph countian, died at a Moberly hospital at 8:45 o'clock last night following a ten years' illness. Mr. Cooley had lived on a farm near Jacksonville since 1871, when he moved to this county. He was born at Dalton, February 7 1850.

Mr. Cooley was married to Miss Julia Frances Rice in 1870. She and two daughters, Mrs. Ed Vallelly, Des Moines, Ia., and Mrs. Don Garritt, Glascow, have been dead several years. Six other children, five sons and a daughter, survive him. They are J. E. Cooley, Jr., Moberly; W. T. Cooley, Centralia; W. P., O. D. and George, Salida, Colo., and Mrs. Robert Winkler, Jacksonville. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also suvive [sic].

Funeral services have not been arranged.

Funeral services for J. E. Cooley, Jacksonville, who died at a Moberly hospital Thursday night, were conducted at the Jacksonville Christian Church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by the Rev. W. T. Henson of Moberly. Burial was at Mount Salem cemetery near Excello.

J E Cooley Funeral

At the funeral services held at Jacksonville Sunday for J E Cooley, the
Rev. W. T. Henson of Moberly who conducted the funeral rites read the following
obituary written by Mr. Cooley himself a number of years ago.

Dec 1st 1915. J. E. Cooley was born Feb. 7, 1850, was married to Miss Julia
Frances Rice Feb. 27, 1870. To this union was born eight children, five
boys and three girls, namely W. P. Cooley, W. T. Cooley, J. E. Cooley,
Geo. B. Cooley, Oswell D. Cooley, Mrs. Lee Winkler, Mrs. Lou Garrett and
Mrs. Virtie Vallely, 27 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

J. E. Cooley professed faith in Christ Dec. 1890 United with the Mt. Shiloah
Baptist Church.

J. E. Cooley was born near Brunswick, in Chariton Co, MO. His father Joseph
Cooley was born and raised in Howard County. His mother, Elizabeth Lock
was born in Macon, MO.

In 1922 after the death of his wife and his remarriage Mr. Cooley wrote
this appendix to his obituary.

Julia Frances Cooley departed this life Feb. 13th, 1901. J. E. Cooley and
Miss Victoria Sparkman were married July 21, 1901.
