Abiel Leonard in the Joint Collection, University of Missouri Western
Historical Manuscript Collection - Columbia.
To the Honourable David Todd Judge of the Circuit Court for the first
Judicial Circuit in the State of Missouri setting as a court of Chancery at
The Town of Fayette in the County of Howard and Circuit aforesaid -
Your orator Pleasant Wilson of the County of Howard and State of Missouri
administrator of all ad singular the goods and chattels rights and credits
of James Cooley deceased Humbly Complaining therewith unto your Honor that
some time on or about the first day of October in the year Eighteen hundred
and twenty one in the county of Howard the aforesaid James Cooley died
intestate leaving a widow by the name of Elizabeth Cooley and the following
heirs and legal Representatives to wit - Thomas White and his wife Jemima
White said Jemima is the daughter and heir of said deceased, William
Cunningham and his wife Docia which said Docia is the daughter and Heir of
said Deceased and the following sons and heirs all minors
to wit Demarquis D. Cooley. Isaac N. Cooley, James M. Cooley, Timothy G.
Cooley, John H. Cooley, Cornelius Cooley, Benjamin R. Cooley, Matthias M.
Cooley and William Cooley who are all prayed to make parties to this Bill
of Complaint.

County of Howard
Armistead S Grundy Clerk of the County Court (can't read) for the County of Howard. To all who shall see these presents -- Greetins - Know ye that whereas James Cooley of the County aforesaid died intestate as is said and Pleasant Wilson having given satisfortory security and complied with other re____ of law, I do by these present give and grant unto the said Pleasant Wilson full power and authority to administer all and singular the goods chattels rights and credits of said deceased lying and being in within the state aforesaid and to ask demand and legally require and secure all manner of debts and demands due and owing to the said deceased and will and faithfully to depose of the same according to law. And lastly I do by these presents constitute & appoint the said Pleasand Wilson administrator of all and singular the goods chattels rights and credits of the aforesaid James Cooley deceased.
Witness my hand with the Seal of ___ said Court affixed this ninth day of January one thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty two and ___ forty sixth year of the Independence of the United States.
