Thomas Jefferson Cooley’s Obituary

Rites Held for Putnam Countian

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Thomas Jefferson Cooley, 78, at his home in Putnam County. The rites were conducted by Elder Clyde O. Johnson, with prayer by Joe Clay, and burial was made in the Lipp Cemetery. Mr. Cooley, a resident of Putnam County for over fifty years, died Dec. 11.

He was born in Macon County, Missouri, March 2, 1860, a son of Benjamin F. and Susan Cooley. On September 11, 1881, he was married to Julia Lipp, who died March 13, 1925. Eight children were born to them, one son and one daughter dying in infancy.

He is survived by three sons and three daughters, namely: Nora O. Price, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; William H. Cooley, Stahl; Eva F. Hartford, Worthington; Laura L. Gauer, Stahl; O.F. Cooley, Stahl; and Albert T. Cooley of Worthington; also two brothers and one sister, William H. Cooley, of Stahl, T.H. Cooley, of Pratt, Kansas, and Molly Hendrick, of Stahl; 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
