Will of Abraham Cowley, Henrico Co, VA, 1752.
The Cowley/Cooley family was in Virginia by 1635. In June 1635,
William Cowley, age twenty, was a passenger on the ship America, which
sailed from London for Virginia. William Cowley and his wife Sarah, were
mentioned in the 1647 will of Richard Dewin, citizen and cordwainer of London, England, in which Sarah was left 10 pounds. They were in Northampton County, Virginia. In 1650, Tobyas and Sarah Cowley were brought over to Northumberland County, Virginia by Lewis Burwell.
