The Richard here was, of course, too old to have been Jerome's son. Was he another brother? If so, it would indeicate that Jerome's father, George, had moved to MO by c1835

My line is via Jerome Cooley, who is the son of George and Nancy Cooley. Jerome went to California in the late 1860's, "via the isthmus of Panama" and then I lose them, but find their daughter (my gr-grandmother), Sally B. Cooley, who married Thomas Armstrong, a pioneer of 1849, in El Dorado County, California. Sally died in El Dorado Co. in the 1920's.

California Grand Lodge
El Dorado Co., California
The very old California Grand Lodge was formed in April 1850. J. B. Cooley was a member from 1855 to 1872. His full name was Jerome Bonaparte Cooley. F. M. Cooley was a member from 1850 to 1855. Both men were members of the Michigan City #47. The Lodge surrendered their charter in 1897.
