COOLEY - Tenal Stilwell, Jr., passed away Friday, October 9, 1998. He was born April 20, 1923, in Drumright, OK to Tenal S. and Mildred (Sherwood) Cooley. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1941. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942 - 1945. In 1947, he received a B.A. in Personnel Administration from Oklahoma State University. He received his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University in 1956. He was employed by the Oklahoma Publishing Co. for 35 years. He first served as Recreational Director and then as Personnel Director. He served on the Board of Directors of OPUBCO for five years. The last 12 years, until his retirement in 1983, he was the manager of Publisher's Petroleum. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy, of the home; daughters, Becky Osmond and her husband, Wayne of OKC, and Danna Zoltner of Denton, Tx; sons, Tenal S. Cooley III and his wife, Cindy, of OKC, and James Cooley and his wife, Janet, of Van Alstyne, Tx; and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Doris Miller and her husband, Gene, of Brenham, Tx, and Jean Schwabe and her husband, John, of Portland, OR; two half brothers, John Cooley and his wife, Patty, of Stillwater, OK, and Partick Cooley and his wife, Patty, of Pottsboro, Tx; and half sister, Ann McCroskey and her husband, John, of Stillwater, OK. He was a long-time member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and Twin Hills Golf & Country Club. A favorite quote of his was, "No man has a right to be any less of a man than he is capable of being." Tenal will be remembered as a man who lived his life by this quote and loved and cherished his family. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in OKC on Tuesday, October 13, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Presbyterian Church in OKC or the charity of your choice.
