She was apparently Mildred Frances McCully (1838-) daughter of Samuel McCully and Mildred Mayo.

This appears to be a different family (Colley). The Thomas who married Frances was the son of Thomas Cartwright Colley of Virginia.

From Bonnie Lillywhite:

I think that the Mary Ellen Truitt (Polly Ellen) who married "A" Thomas M
Cooley remarried in 1867 to Joseph Foster King. She died 10 Jul 1924 in
Bucklin, Linn, MO. If so, then this Thomas may have died soon after the
Civil War. He may be the right one. Maybe an obit for Mary Ellen would
mention that.
