Harold G. COOLEY, 85, of Milton, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Central Iowa Veterans Health Care Center in Des Moines.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Harold G. COOLEY

Harold G. COOLEY, 85, of Milton, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Community Living Center of the Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines.

A graveside service, with military rites by American Legion Russell-Strait Post, and interment of cremains will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 27 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Memorials to Van Buren County Commission of Veterans' Affairs or Sunnyside Cemetery may be taken to the service or mailed to P.O. Box 152, Milton 52570.

Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mr. COOLEY was born Oct. 1, 1925, near Milton, the son of Percy M. and Daisy GRADY COOLEY. He married Betty COOK. They divorced.

Mr. COOLEY grew up in and lived most of his life in Milton. He worked as a mechanic in local garages and as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator in road construction.

Mr. COOLEY served in the United States Army combat Engineers in Europe during World War II.

He was a member of American Legion Russell-Strait Post 483 of Milton and was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Amvets.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles COOLEY; and four sisters, Sarah IRWIN, Helen HYDUCK, Bonnie TOMAS and an infant.
