Correction and Additions to Volume I

I am not a very good typist. Indeed, I am no typist at all. In fact, this project would have proven utterly impossible for me if it had not been for the computer and its word processing capabilities. My only hope is that none of these errors caused any inconvenience to anyone.

p. 3 Add to Grantee Index I "Samuel [Pettit] to John Morris, 1829, C-372". This is an important deed as it gives Samuel's date of death as Aug. 1823. It names his widow, Margaret, and children Elizabeth, Emmanda [poss. meant to be Emanuel], Mahlon, John, William and Samuel.
p. 12 The fourth line of Louise Warner's query should read ".... William Pettit 1802 NJ 1873 Iowa..."
pp. 17-20 Theodore Bozarth (R.D. 2, Box 168, Titusville, NJ 08560) has done a great deal of research in Burlington Co., NJ (he was also born there). He has made a number of corrections and suggestions for the 1850 census Pettit entries of that county as I had transcribed them in the July `88 issue. The number proceeding each item refers to the census page numbers as given in the July article.

226Can't imagine what surname but "Shreve" is Quaker given name clue.
 235Pickering (?)
256There are a dozen or so by that given name [Reuben Haines] in each volume of John W. Haines' Richard Haines and His Descendants, (1961) and (1966). The Reuben in your list apparently too recent to be included in Vol. 2.
 397Guiberson
439Don't be surprised if he is Thomas Chalkley Pettit in some records.
461Several Medford Twp families are duplicated in 1850 C/R, incl a Bozarth, and with similar variations in ages and names.

p. 27The last line of Viola Sims' query should read "7. Ada/Addie, b. abt. ? md William West.
p. 38The article cited under the item titled "A Divorce" should read "Divorces Granted by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from December 1785, until 1801".
p. 42The zip code for Bess Parmer's San Antonio address was given incorrectly. It should have read 78230.
