<h2>Bartholomew Pettet's Family Bible</h2>

<p>EDITOR'S NOTE: Bartholomew Pettet is first mentioned in TPC on page 16 of
Vol. 1, #2 (July 1988) in the article titled "Bart and Jake".  Thanks to
long-time correspondent Floy Scatterday I have since learned a great deal
about this family.  To my knowledge, however, Bartholomew's parents are
still unknown, as is his relationship to the Jacob referred to in the above
mentioned article.  As we know that Bartholomew was born in Sussex Co., DE
it is easy to want to speculate about the 1800 census entry of that county
for Edward Pettitt (TPC, Oct. 1988, p. 36).

<p>The last named person in this list is the father of Gerald Pettet.  I've
included the + sign to indicate his descent from Bartholomew.  As well, this
may very well describe the way in which the bible was passed down.
