In 1988 I received several Family Group charts and photographs from Laura Sheline Pettit. I published the photo of Cyrus and Mary Jane (Morris) Pettit and the accompanying information in the July 1989 issue of TPC. The above pictures, received at the same time, are of John Lewis Pettit, son of Cyrus and Mary Jane, and his wife Ruby Ernestine Doty.
John was born 27 December 1887 in Richhill Township, Greene County, PA. He and Ruby married on 20 May 1907 in Moundsville, WV. She was the daughter of Everett Edward and Martha E. (Van Horn) Doty and was born 3 November 1887 in Jackson, WV.
They had two sons. Curtis Eugene was born 17 January 1909 Moundsville. He married Almeda Payne on 3 August 1934 in Mercer, PA. Their second son, Paul Brooke, was born on 1 April 1911, also in Moundsville, and married Laura V. Sheline 19 April 1952 in Rocky River, Cuyhoga County, OH.
John Lewis Pettit died in Rocky River on 20 April 1957. Ruby died, two years earlier, in New Castle County, Delaware on 20 July 1965. They are both buried in Rocky River, Ohio.
