From The Pettit Correspondent, Volume 4, Number 1, page 157
Nancy Colvin married 2 September 1819 Adams County, Ohio to Benjamin Vanhorn. On 3 January 1825, Nancy Vanhorn (widow) married Benjamin Petitt in Lewis County, Kentucky; father of the bride given as George Colvin; security paid by George Colvin.
In the 1830 census of Adams County, Green Township, Ohio (page 30), Benjamin Petit is listed with 1 male 5/10, 1 male 20/30, 2 females 5/10, 1 female 20/30. The children were probably Nancy's by her first marriage to Vanhorn.
In the 1830 census, Benjamin Petit and family were living only a few doors from George Colvin and family.
Elizabeth Colvin married 13 January 1817 Adams County, Ohio to Jones (Jonas) Pettit. In the 1830 census, Jonas Petit and family were in Green Township, Adams County, Ohio (page 32) living next door to Lewis Colvin. The Jonas Petit family had 1 male under 5, 1 male 10/15, 1 male 20/30, 1 male 30/40, 1 female 5/10, 1 female 10/15, 1 female 20/30. If this last given female was Elizabeth (Colvin) Pettit, it is in error and should read 30/40. In the 1820 census of Adams County, Green Township, Ohio, Jonas Pettit and family were living next to George Colvin. The Pettit family contained 1 male under 10, 1 male 10/16, 1 male 26/45, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 26/45.
It is also possible that Elizabeth (Colvin) Pettit died between 1825/1830 and Jonas Pettit remarried a younger woman.
