The first family reunion of the descendants of Agnes Jane Pettit and Thomas Lee Gibson (m. 1880 in Scott County, Arkansas) will take place in Waldron, Arkansas on June 8 and 9, 1991. Thomas and Agnes Gibson were the parents of Troxie Lee, James Omer and Jennie. Jennie married Lindsey Denton. Associated family names include Pool(e), Walker, Watkins, Welch, Williams, Whisenhunt, Smith, Miller, Prior, Harrell, Owens, Laird, Blaylock and Haney. Submitted by Jean Cloud, 890 Edgewood Rd., Redwood City, CA 94062 From "Biographical Sketches of American Loyalists", page 536: John S. Pettit, petty officer of the customs, embarked at Boston for Halifax with the British Army 1776; Pettit - Eleven persons of this name of Queens County, New York, acknowledged allegience October 1776. To wit: James, Samuel, Isaac, Increase P., John W., Samuel Abadiah, [and] Joseph Jr. Isaac had previously signed a declaration at Jamaica. In 1780 James, William, and Joshua Pettit of that county, belonged to an armed party of Loyalists under Lieutenant McKain.
