From The Pettit Correspondent, Volume 4, Number 2, page 175
The below mentioned Margaret (Sniff) Pettit (granddaughter of Margaret Roberts), and her husband, Samuel Pettit, are believed to have been married in Burlington County on 1 November 1807. However, no mention of that record is known to exist in that county. It is, then, noteworthy that the Albert S. Pettit biography (page 119, July 1990 issue of TPC), whose grandparents were Samuel and Margaret, states that Samuel, who was born in New Jersey, "removed to Pennsylvania, and there married a Miss Sniff." It might well be worth looking into Pennsylvania records, ca. 1805-1813, for any further mention of these families. Some further information about the Samuel and Margaret Pettit family is found on page 6 of TPC (Volume 1, #1).
