Seeking information about James PETTIT born 26 February 1762. He was the son of James and Martha MCCUNE PETTIT. He is listed in the Ohio County, Virginia census of 1787, and had at least two children, William PETTIT and Sidney PETTIT THOMPSON. Since William was born prior to James PETTIT's marriage to Catherine MCCULLOUGH RYAN ZANE, I believe he was previously married. Does anyone have information on this first marriage? Seeking information on the wife of William PETTIT mentioned above. He was married to Elizabeth HOUGH, she had a brother Joseph HOUGH. Joseph married Mariam / Mariah ZANE (a daughter of Betty ZANE).
