J. J. Ashenhurst Removes to Colorado

Mr. J. J. Ashenhurst, who is well known in this town and community as editor of the New Concord Enterprise, and as an active helper in church work, a staunch Prohibitionist and a citizen with high ideals in civic affairs left on the noon train Tuesday for Colorado Springs, Col., Mr Ashenhurst formerly resided in Colorado and was there engaged in the work of the Laymen's Missionary Movement and the State Sunday School Association. He came to New Concord during the fall of 1910 for the purpose of visiting his mother, the late Martha Ashenhurst, and finding her in feeble health, he prolonged his visit indefinitely.

Mr Ashenhurst is a man of considerable experience in newspaper work and it was but natural that he soon found the office of the Enterprise. He has been editor of the paper for almost two years. The recent death of his mother, however, removed the ties that bound him to this community and now he has responded to the "call of the west" which knocks so persistently at the ears of all those who have ever been far beyond the Mississippi, and has returned to his western home.

A reception was given at the First U. P. church in honor of Mr. And Mrs. Ashenhurst. A large number were present and spent a most pleasant evening. The Men's bible class of which Mr. Ashenhurst was teacher, presented him with a handsome black, leather lined traveling bag. The departing teacher in a brief speech feelingly thanked the class for their gift and those present for the kindness rendered to him during his work and the hearty co-operation of the teachers and pupils of the Sabbath school.
