Without looking it up, it may well be that Garland county was formed from
Hot Springs county. A huge number of modern counties were formed that way.
In fact, counties themselves sometimes have complex genealogical trees in
respect to their formation. That the county clerk made this suggestion
certainly make it so in this case.
