That is not how I am reading this.
I think that John and Docia Roberts are selling 1/10 of undivided land to
Benjamin R. Cooley. And that William C. Cooley did the same. So could this be
land that they have all inherited from ? (James and his wife Elizabeth). Also,
I read into this that there were 10 people receiving this parcel of land.
The only way we can be sure is to check the land records for 1844-1845 and maybe
earlier. I love land partitions as they list all children inheriting-- it
would be great if this is what this is.
About 4 years ago I gave my microfilm reader to Goodwill and 60 rolls of
Missouri microfilms to the Carlsbad city library. However, they have never been
added to the collection. I understand that the head of the genealogy/local
history department has the box sitting on the floor of her office. I am sure
there were land records among them for Macon and Randolph counties. I will try
to go one day this week and see. Sure wish I had kept a record of what I had,
but discarded it.

If I'm reading this correctly, the Roberts a tenth to William C Cooley on
Jan 4 and a another tenth to Benjamin R Cooley on June 25. Perhaps this
was land that belonged to the Roberts family. (I've always found deeds
difficult to read.)
