Shirley Wilcox's John Cooley

I reviewed Shirley's John Cooley conundrum the other night. He was born in
Adair County, KY in about 1796. The 1880 census says that both parents
were born in Virginia. This sure sounds like a son of Daniel's, but
Daniel's family is well-accepted. (It should be noted, however, that none
of his descendants have taken the Y chromosome test.)

Shirley, does this look like a reasonable start on that line?
