The first twelve markers for the Thadeus Cooley of Wythe County, VA have
come in. As expected, they are an exact match to Abraham's, his presumed
brother. Thadeus is believed to have been the ancestor of the Jessamine
County, Kentucky Cooleys, although the proof is lacking. I might start
looking for the DNA evidence. The most recent generation I've seen is
this...
Martin F Cooley (1875-) m Vena
..Martin Cooley Jr (c1902-)
Also, the remaining test results have come in for the Australian Cooley
with Yorkshire roots. He matches 34/37 markers with Robert Cooley, of what
I'm now calling the Pennsylvania cluster. That cluster is the only other
R1a Cooley group found in America (unless W H Cooley does turn out to be a
separate line). Although we are distant from them, it may well be worth
our while to begin looking at Yorkshire Cooleys.
More on that later.
Hey, the list has been pretty active! That's a good thing. Mary has
provided some more data for the MO land patents. I've got a full plate
with school over the next couple of weeks, so I may be late in updating
it.
