Edward Cooley could be the missing son  using his middle name --- James Edward Cooley.  The age fits to be a brother. Maybe it goes like this Perrin Cooley goes to Illinois and takes his two cousins with him.  I think the birth place of Illinois is probably wrong.  There is lots of researchs that needs to be done.  But I have faith that we will solve this. I tried to find a second marriage for Nancy Massey Cooley with no luck so maybe she did die after the 1840 census and before the 18 50. There's also this Harriet in 1850: 1850 > ILLINOIS > CALHOUN > ILLINOIS Series: M432 Roll: 99 Page: 306 Perrin Cooley 27 Farmer MO Harriet Cooley 19 IL Edward Cooley 18 MO Can we put any of the Cooleys in IL at this early a date? It could be an error. The old query we've references said that the mother also died. That could well have happened in the 1840s. The children may have scattered among relatives. I haven't a clue who this Edward is. -Michael > Michael, > > I thought I would check Isaac's siblings to see if there was someone that > didn't > belong in the 1840 census an came up with this. > > Timothy Cooley married  in March 1833  and on the 1840 Macon county, MO > census > for him I find the following: > > > 1 male under 5      --Benjamin F. born  Apr 1836 > 1 male 20 to 30     -- Timothy > > 1 female under 5   -- Rebecca  born Aug 1838 > 1 female 5 to 10   -- Malinda born Nov 1833 > 1 female 10 to 15 -- could this be Harriet daughter of Isaac?
