Shella Jane Parsons was married first to Charles Asberry Evans. I have not
located a marriage for her to John W. Cooley - perhaps they never wed...but
she is listed on the Terre Haute Directories after John's death as Mrs.
Shella J. Cooley. She is also listed with John W. Cooley on the 1920 census
with two children, James & Vivian Cooley. But on the 1910 census she is
with her first husband, Charles Evans.

There is a death of a Charles Evans in 1914 - but is this him? His
daughter, Vivian Evans married Arthur L. Plummer on 17 Dec 1928 in Vigo Co.,
IN, lists her parents (Chas Evans & Shella Parson) as living in Gary,
Indiana (actually, all were listed as living in Gary, Indiana)...but that
doesn't mean they were together at that time.
Shella is listed on the Terra Haute, Vigo Co., IN directory, I thought up to
1925...but definitely up to 1922:
