Hey that is my John sr :) Being that I am a Casey Co Cooley hehe (til I went to college anyway)
I haven't checked much lately but did you guys ever put a finger on where he came from inEurope?
The family folk tales said we were Irish but that he came over way before the potato famine and all that.
I know the Michael that runs the list is definitely the expert on the subject
I should prolly change my name on the list to "the other Michael" :)

Hi Curt,
John Sr was on the 1810 census of Casey county, and on the Casey county
tax lists in 1807, 08, 10 and 11, the probable year of his death.
What was the Cooley 1809 entry?
Did you ask if there were any loose records for the period?
