We know from Joseph Gray's will that he had an illegitimate child, Joseph
Gray, Jr., with Mary (Plunkett) Wilson. I've just run across the marriage
record of Mary to John Wilson in Lincoln county, KY, which makes sense...

Perhaps this group, including Joseph's son, remained in KY.
The Grays are relevant, of course, because William Matthews Cooley's wife
was probably a daughter of Joseph Gray. I've wanted to find Joseph origins
in hopes of learning more about William Cooley but I suspect he met the
Grays in Lincoln while he was there during the Revolution.
