William H Cooley (1797-1877) m Sophia Havens
The match is holding. I can't image that William was not closely related
to John in some way. Presumably, his father was present in PA in 1800,
although it's possible that they had already left the state. These are the
only Cooleys I find on the 1800 PA census:
*John Cooley, Franklin, Fayette, Pennsylvania
Jacob Cooley, Kingston, Luzerne, Pennsylvania
John Cooley, Canton, Washington, Pennsylvania
*Richard Cooly, Springhill, Fayette, Pennsylvania
*Joseph Coolly, First Moon, Beaver, Pennsylvania
We have Y DNA info for the starred entries. Jacob was still in Luzerne
County in 1810. He shows three sons 0-9, and one 10-15. I don't think I
have further info on John of Washington County.
Jacob is worth pursuing. But had we concluded that William was in Ohio by
1810?
I'm sure it will be a few more days before more of the Edmond Cooley
results come in. BTW, after waiting for at least three months, a
descendant of John Cooley of Franklin Co, NC has sent in his kit. I'm also
still looking for leads on John Cooley (1797-1880+) and Annis Hardin. I'm
getting no responses from the people I've found. There are also no
responses from people here in Humboldt County who I think are from John's
son Daniel. Frustrating.
