This is what I have on Margaret Ann Reed who md Perrin C Cooley in 1891 or
possibly as early as 1863:
1850 St Clair County, MO, p 142, Margaret w/mother, Margaret Reed and
siblings, Sarah 14, Joseph 12, Isaac B A 10, Lucinda 8, John 6, Margaret A 4
and Mary E 2. First 2 children b IN, rest of children b in MO. I believe the
father of these children was John Reed (or Joseph) and he died abt 1849.
1860 Liberty, Schuyler, MO, p 39, Margaret (the mother) now has the surname
of Shaler. All the children w/her are also listed as Shaler. They are
Lucinda 17, John 15, Margrett, 12 and Martha 7. No husband is w/her.
1870 Liberty, Schuyler, MO, p 15, Margaret's surname listed as Shalee,
children w/her are Austin, John and Desdemony Reed, all b MO
1880 Liberty, Schuyler, MO, Margaret is listed as Shuler and is w/Joseph C
Reed as his mother. She is 64 b NC.
This is the tentative family I have for her and John or Joseph Reed:
Sarah Reed b 1836 Indiana
Joseph Camp Reed b 8 Dec 1837 Lafayette, Tippecanoe, Indiana, and d 30 Dec
1922 Los Angeles, CA. His death certificate gives parents as Joseph Reed and
Margaret Gifford
Austin Reed b 1 Dec 1839 of Schuyler Co, MO, d 25 Aug 1913 Stanislaus
County, CA, father given as John Reed, mother not listed
Isaac B A Reed b 1840 St Clair County, MO
Lucinda Reed b 1842 St Clair County, MO
John Reed b 1845 Schuyler County, MO
Margaret Ann Reed b Sep 1846 of St Clair of Schuyler County, MO, md Perrin C
Cooley
Mary E Reed b Schuyler County, MO, died young
also w/Margaret and family in 1870 was Delphine Desdemonia Amanda Reed b 11
Feb 1860 Schuyler County, MO, d 7 Feb 1942 Bushnell, Sumter, Florida
I don't know what happened to Margaret Gifford Reed Shaler after 1880 or
what happened to her dau, Margaret Ann Reed Cooley.
The above is tentative only. The Reeds of Schuyler County, MO included David
and Allen Reed. My Elijah is named on deeds and in other documents with
David and Allen Reed. Allen Reed was md to a Susan Sneed. Margaret Gifford
Reed lived next door to a Henry Sneed in 1860.
As you can see there is much work to be done on these Reeds but I can see
clues in some of the given names which appear in Elijah's family, such as
Austin.
I hope this helps and doesn't confuse. I feel strongly that these people are
all related somehow.
