I believe you are on the right track with William & Sophia - I found
something on them yesterday afternoon - then Ancestry went down until this
morning!

One source says that William was born in PA, another (see my notes for
William) says PA or NC. Who knows, these may yet all merge together!
William was too young to have been the father of James of Jack County, but
I think we can seriously consider the idea (considering the connection of
PA/OH/IL) that they may have been brothers.
Unless someone points out a big error, I'll probably list this group at
http://ancestraldata.com/ahnentafel/256/lineages/ as "William Cooley and
Sophia Havens."
