FTDNA sale

FTDNA has a 12-marker sale for only $39! There may be cases where that's
very appropriate. For example, I've been in correspondence with a Cooley
who tested at Sorenson. He is a Cooley/Gargus descendant but only one of
his first 12 markers were tested. A test for him at FTDNA will round out
the results and, as one of only two descendants tested, they will help
confirm the results for the line.

Most of the lines I've been researching has been tested. Although there
are undoubtedly more DNA "fingerprints" to be uncovered for the pre-1800
Cooleys, there's a good chance that someone can test at only 12 markers
and get placed among one of the groups. Of course, this would be
especially a good choice for those whose genealogy looks pretty good but
who desire the genetic confirmation, such as was the case with Donald Dean
Cooley (1931-2012).

There's one case that I can think of where 12 markers might not help. We
have the hint of a collateral line with DNA results of William Henry
Cooley and James Cooley of Jack County TX. (I still hole out for the
possibility that they were grandsons of John's.) Their 12 markers match
ours. Without further testing, we would not be able to distinguish between
the two.

Anyway, at only $39, it should make it easier to lure some Cooleys into
our web. :)
