What is Genetic Genealogy? Genealogy is simply the study of one's family
tree or ancestry. Genetic genealogy uses DNA testing to determine the
genetic relationship between individuals. Here is a nice beginner's guide:

I've been finding many autosomal DNA matches to female 2nd and 3rd Cooley
cousins (they descend from Timothy Goode "Tink" Cooley or his son John Iven
Cooley) using the DNA test given at Ancestry.com. Today I found Beverly
Husted. By contrast, I've found almost no Cooley cousins using the
autosomal DNA tests at 23andMe or FTDNA. The fact that the folks on
Ancestry.com have pedigrees helps locate the common ancestry that the
shared DNA comes from. Also, less than half the folks who take the 23andMe
test appear to care about genealogy - they took the test for health
information only.
