Mary Davis married James Morgan 18 Jul 1754 in Balitmore county, Maryland. In his memoirs, Enoch Parr states that his maternal grandparents were James Morgan and Mary Davis. The Revolutionary War pension application for James and Mary's son, James Morgan Jr, states that he was born in Baltimore county, Maryland. It seems to me that this marriage is properly attributed to our Mary Davis.

There have been at least four names proposed as James Morgan's wife's name. Indeed, he may have married four times. But seven daughters have been attributed to Mary, six of whom may have living descendants. Was Mary really the mother of all of them? There's actually a way to find out genetically. A mother's mtDNA passes down to all her children but only the daughters can carry it forward to the next generation. That means that any woman matrilineally descended from Mary (Mary's daughter's daughter's daughter, etc) will carry the same mtDNA. If it's true for all six daughters then we would know that all six were full siblings, rather than half siblings. If such matches do not exist then we have more detective work to do.
