Rebecca is said to have been born in Jefferson county, Kentucky in 1789.
In fact, it was another three years before Kentucky become a state.
Jefferson county, Virginia was forged out of Kentucky county (formerly
Fincastle county) in 1780. Preset-day Clark county, Indiana and Jefferson
county, Kentucky border one another. It's likely, then, that Rebecca lived
in the same area all of her life.
The following is from Chapter 4 of The McClintick-McClintock Clans of
America: [122]
REBECCA McCLINTICK #231, 1st daughter of John Sr., b. 1789 ?, Jefferson
Co., KY, m. 1807 ?, William Akin #232, d. 1844, his estate probated Oct
1844. Rebecca died 1856, her estate probated 8 Apr 1856. We found a
listing in the Hoosier Journal stating Mary Akin, widow of William Akin,
married John R. Clark. 14 Jul 1817, but he must have been a different
William. We believe both Rebbecca and William to be buried in the McClintick
family cemetery. While we did not find a headstone for them, we did locate
one for their oldest son John. William was a bricklayer and built the first
jail in Jeffersonville, IN. There seemed to be some difficulty in settling
his estate as we found records where some members of the family sued for a
settlement. Children of Rebecca and William:
[i] John Akin #233 b. 2 May 1808.
[ii] William F. Akin #236 b. 1809.
[iii] Amos Akin #244.
[iv] Willis Akin #256 b. 1812, m. 2 Mar 1831, Louisa Clark #257.
[v] Mary Akin #258 m. Washington Lewis #259.
[vi] Jane Akin #260 m. Jacob Miller #261.
[vii] Lusinda Akin #262, m. William Prather #263.
[viii] Lurinda Akin #264 m. David Cooly #265.
[ix] Milton Akin #266 b. 1819.
